With the hard-work from thousands of volunteers throughout Allen, Texas and the dedication from the teams at Kids Against Hunger and non-profit Send Hope, we were able to partner together to package and donate more than 172,000 meals to benefit Puerto Lempira – an isolated town in northeastern Honduras.
From May 18 through May 23, 2,500 volunteers from two local elementary schools and one church in Allen, Texas rallied together to pack 850 boxes containing more than 172,000 meals that are being shipped to Honduras.
Mighty Spark is proud to have donated 100,000 of these meals, thanks to our consumers nationwide who purchase our product. For each Mighty Spark purchase, we donate a meal to kids in need. We call this our Bite Back Hunger program.
The meals the volunteers packed consist of a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins needed by a malnourished child or adult. The meals the volunteers pack include high-quality, long-grain rice, vitamin-fortified crushed soy, dehydrated black beans and a vitamin spice blend. The 172,000 packed meals are being shipped to Honduras by non-profit Send Hope to benefit underprivileged kids.
High-fives to the volunteers from Carlena Chander Elementary School, Puster Elementary School and First United Methodist Church in Allen, Texas who gave their time and energy to pack the meals that will feed malnourished children in Puerto Lempira, Honduras. And a big shout-out to Sharon and Tom Brian from Kids Against Hunger and Send Hope for their outstanding work serving others. Way to spark a movement!
