Recently, the Mighty Spark team packed our bags to head to the Sunshine State to pack nearly 80,000 meals that were donated to Feeding Empty Little Tummies, a food backpack program that provides meals to homeless kids in Manatee County, Florida.
At Mighty Spark, we’re passionate about using our remarkable food to do good, one meal at a time. Approximately, one in six kids in the U.S. may not know where they’ll get their next meal, that’s why we’re on a mission to do our part to provide meals to hungry kids. For every Mighty Spark purchase, we donate a meal to those in need. Thanks to consumers who shop our product, we’ve donated millions of meals to those in need.
On Aug. 11, we partnered with Kiwanis Against Hunger and volunteers from Publix, Lucky’s Market, Blake Hospital, Bradenton Kiwanis Club, Faith United Church of Christ and more to pack nearly 80,000 Kids Against Hunger meals, 40,000 of which were donated by Mighty Spark. The meals consist of a rich source of easily digestible protein, carbohydrates and vitamins needed for a malnourished child, including high-quality, long-grain rice, vitamin-fortified crushed soy, dehydrated black beans and a vitamin spice blend.
The 80,000 meals packed will be donated to Feeding Empty Little Tummies to benefit dozens of schools in Manatee County to feed homeless kids in the community.
In the coming months, the Mighty Spark team will be hitting the road to Portland, Boston, New York and more to pack and donate meals to those in need. Thanks to the support from our consumers, retail and non-profit partners, we’re able to spark a movement!
