FREQUENTLY ASKED PRODUCT QUESTIONS

I don’t see an expiration date on my Mighty Spark product, is it still good?

We’re sorry about that! We rely on our grocery partners to date sticker the products when they set the product on shelf so that you’re getting the freshest meat possible. In the event a date sticker is not present and/or you have a question regarding the shelf life of a product, give us a call and we’ll contact the store directly. Our number is 888-333-1735.

Can I refreeze your products?

Yes, absolutely! The USDA advises that it is safe to refreeze meat. And thanks to our packing methods, the flavor, texture, and quality of your product will not be affected. It’s best to enjoy the meat within 12 months of freezing.

What do I do with this product?

The possibilities are endless! Visit our recipe page for quick and healthy recipes and inspiration. Enjoy!

Are Mighty Spark products nitrate free?

Mighty Spark product that is nitrate and nitrite-free is noted on the front of our packaging. The chicken and turkey we source are nitrate and nitrite-free, however, the beef we source does not have the nitrate or nitrite-free claim.

If you have questions about our product ingredients, visit our product page to see each product’s full ingredients.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us directly at 888-333-1735.

Are Mighty Spark products gluten-free?

Mighty Spark’s chicken snack sticks are gluten-free.

For our all-natural, fresh meat, many of our products are made without wheat. However, our fresh meat products are crafted in a U.S. facility that also handles wheat and other allergens, so we currently cannot claim our products are gluten free.

Why isn’t there an expiration date sticker on the product?

The reason we don’t print an expiration date on the product is because retailers keep the product frozen and unexposed to light. As soon as the product goes on shelf, our grocery partners apply the date sticker.

Do I cook Mighty Spark from frozen or thawed?

Mighty Spark products are best when they are fully thawed before cooking; we recommend thawing in the refrigerator. Once fully thawed, cook meat to an internal temperature of 165°F and enjoy!

Are Mighty Spark products free of added hormones? What about antibiotic-free?

The chicken used for Mighty Spark’s snack sticks are free of antibiotics, hormones and they’re MSG-free.

The poultry we source from U.S. farms is free of added hormones. The chicken sourced for our fresh meat currently does not have the antibiotic-free claim. We work with U.S. farmers who provide antibiotic treatment to their animals when they get sick, just as you and I do with our pets. The USDA conducts a monitoring program to ensure the antibiotics are effectively eliminated from the animals’ systems at processing and that no unsafe residues are detected in finished products.

What casings do your chicken links use?

All of our chicken sausage links use a natural pork casing. Our chicken snack sticks use a beef collagen casing.

What are the Natural Ingredients in Mighty Spark products?

We’re happy to explain a bit further. As a company, we value simple and honest ingredients, and we strive to craft our products with high-quality ingredients. Instead of using artificial preservatives, we use ingredients with naturally occurring, inherent preservatives and anti-oxidants to help preserve the quality of our products. Which combination of ingredients we use varies by protein and product, but the ones we use most often include vinegar powder, rosemary extract, cherry extract, and green tea extract.

FREQUENTLY ASKED GIVE BACK QUESTIONS

Who receives the meal donations Mighty Spark provides?

Thanks to your support, Mighty Spark partners with Children’s Hunger Fund and Kids Against Hunger for domestic and international meal donations to local food banks, school lunch programs, orphanages, disaster relief and more.

To learn more about our non-profit partners and the impact of your meal donations, visit our Give Back page.

Is it really one meal donated for every product purchased?

We have three products that all translate into donated meals just a little differently! For every fresh meat product you purchase (our packaged links, patties, and grinds) you are donating one meal. For every 1lb of Butcher Counter meat purchased, one meal is donated. And lastly, a meal is donated for every three snack sticks sold.

Every purchase of Mighty Spark product helps donate meals. Your purchase is a small but powerful act that provides a meal to someone in need, so thank you! Together, we can be the spark that makes an impact.

Why Meal Donations?

While running his small Minneapolis farmers market meat stand, Mighty Spark founder, Nick Beste, was asked to help with a school’s backpack program. After researching school backpack programs, Nick was shocked at what he found  – millions of kids went home every Friday after school without knowing where their next meal would come from.

Hunger impacts every community in the U.S. An estimated 1 in 8 Americans are food insecure. Worldwide, there are millions of people in need of food. As of 2016, the number of malnourished people rose to 815 million.

Determined to help and create a force for doing good, Mighty Spark was launched in 2018. Today, Mighty Spark has grown into a movement, with more than 4 million meals donated. In 2019 alone, we’re on track to donate 2,360,000 meals – that’s one meal donated every 13 seconds!

What are the donated meals?

Your meal donations through Children’s Hunger Fund consist of macaroni, rice and beans, and have benefitted orphanages, refugee camps and those on the verge of malnourishment in regions that are challenging to make donations, including Thailand and Cambodia.

How can I get involved to volunteer for Mighty Spark’s meal donations?

First off, thanks for your support and the impact you make by donating a meal with a purchase! Feel free to reach out to us, and we can let you know if there’s an upcoming event in your area.
